Celebrate The Holidays With Tea
Updated: Nov 17, 2021

It’s time. Time for turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and pumpkin pie! Well, at least that is usually what is on the menu at my house. Every year family and friends gather to spend quality time together in holiday festivities. A time to slow down and be grateful for the little things. It’s a wonderful time of year and I look forward to it. If you do too, then read on because I’ll be talking about tea pairings and I give some great after-dinner suggestions for tea cocktails!
In Brenda Sterling Meyer’s book “The Ease of Tea” she includes a section of tea and food pairing. Just like wine, tea pairing can be an interesting and fun time for any tea aficionado. You want the tea to enhance your meal courses so plan your menu first then what teas will be served.
In the book, she also talks about serving a fruity herbal tea as your friends and family arrive, giving them a refreshing drink to sip on while socializing before the meal is served. I love this! At Thanksgiving, my family likes to munch on sweet breads or dips like my hot artichoke dip. I like to serve up our holiday tea, Miss Frosty, as it is an herbal blend of sweet creamy vanilla and tangy hibiscus. I like that it sets the tone and helps ease everyone into being relaxed since it's caffeine-free.
For our main course of turkey and stuffing, a good black tea like our Black Currant or Ginger Peach tends to pair well. I think a nice strong black tea is great for a hearty meal. Green teas are better with lighter food like salad and fish, it's also great with sushi.

For dessert you could offer a tea that aids in digestion after a heavy meal. However, after our Thanksgiving meal, I like to serve my special spiked chai tea latte. It's so easy and I think it makes a perfect way to unwind after all the hubbub of cooking all day. I use our Lonestar Chai, an organic black tea with cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger chai spices along with a lovely hint of mint! It's so versatile in adding in your favorite creamy liquors like Horchata, Rumchata, or Bailey's Irish Creme.
Along with Thanksgiving is holiday gift-giving time and I highly recommend our specially curated Holiday Sterling Tea Chest. Give your favorite tea fan a box of this year's delicious seasonal selections! Makes an awesome gift for the true tea aficionado! I give them yearly now and my friends are always delighted at the seasonal teas. Seriously, it's the perfect gift.
